Get there early, I took the BTS to Bearing and a 30 min taxi from there.

An excellent reproduction of the ancient city. It was so sweet and ice cold and especially refreshing after our hill climb that hot day. The toilets here are super clean and we also enjoyed the coconuts we had from a stall across the entrance to the hilltop. Some buildings are the original that were demolished and rebuilt here. The buildings are replicas of the original scaled down to a third or a quarter of the original size. Muangboran is a huge open air museum shaped in the form of Thailand with many important buildings like temples, palaces and the ruins of ancient cities from early history of Thailand to present day. We also had an English speaking guide who was excellent explaining the significance of the architecture and various sites there. We came as a group and took a tram around the site. Be prepared to spend a few hours there as the park is huge. It took us an hour to reach and another hour for the return trip. Muangboran or Ancient City is quite a distance from Bangkok.
